Partido Reporma floats Sara-Marcoleta tandem for 2028 polls

Political party Partido Reporma has expressed support for the presidential bid of Vice President Sara Duterte for the 2028 national elections while endorsing Senator Rodante Marcoleta as her potential running mate.  

In a statement, former House Speaker and Partido Reporma chairman Pantaleon Alvarez said that the party’s support for the Sara-Marcoleta tandem is “grounded not in personality politics, but in principle.”

“Inday Sara Duterte has demonstrated the resolve to confront difficult issues directly and the humility to acknowledge political realities. We believe she possesses the steadiness and discipline necessary to restore confidence in public institutions,” Alvarez said. 

“Senator Rodante Marcoleta brings independence of judgment, clarity of principle, and legislative experience rooted in constitutional accountability. Together, this tandem reflects a leadership that bridges regions and unites diverse constituencies around national interest,” he added. 

Alvarez, who previously served as Representative of Davao del Norte's 1st district, also stressed that the country “must move beyond cycles of accusation, counter-accusation, and factional politics,” believing that leadership should be anchored in governance and not maneuvering.

GMA News Online has reached out to the office of Marcoleta for a comment on the endorsement.

Duterte on Wednesday formally announced her plans to run for president in the 2028 elections.
