Marcos mum on Sara Duterte's 2028 presidential bid: “It’s her choice”
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Saturday refused to comment on Vice President Sara Duterte's announcement that she would run for president in the 2028 national polls.
“Nothing really. That's her choice,” Marcos said during his visit to Naga City, as he stood alongside former vice president and Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo during his visit to inspect flood control projects in the region.
Marcos also declined to comment on his sister Senator Imee Marcos’ intent to run alongside Duterte.
“Again – again, this is all politics. I’m not going to – we're not going to discuss politics now,” he said.
Marcos had said that his visit to Naga City was not political but part of public service amid rumors that Robredo is being considered to run for the presidency in the 2028 national elections.
“Alam mo hindi namin pinag-uusapan iyun. I think mayor will agree with me na serbisyo muna bago politika,” the President said.
(You know, we are not talking about that. I think the mayor will agree with me that service must go first before politics.)
He added: “The most political thing that we did today, I wore my pink socks in honor of Mayor Leni.”
