Bomb threat hits commercial building in Manila
MANILA, Philippines - A bomb scare hit an 18-storey commercial building in Manila Wednesday afternoon and caused panic and temporary evacuation of employees and tenants there. Reports reaching the Manila Police District (MPD) said a certain “Andrew” called the office of Veritas Maritime Corporation, located at the 15th floor of the Marc 2000 Tower at the corner of Taft Avenue and San Andres Street, around 1 p.m. and informed them of a bomb planted in the building. The security personnel evacuated the employees and tenants of the building as they reported the matter to the MPD. The commercial building houses shipping and manning agency, travel agency, law firm, a call center and an insurance company. Operatives of the MPD-Explosive Ordnance Division (EOD) and MPD-K 9 units searched the building but found no bomb. Office works and operations resumed at 2 p.m. after the MPD bomb experts cleared the area. This was the second time the Veritas Maritime Corp received a bomb threat. The first incident happened last April. - GMANews.TV
