Parañaque shooter convicted of homicide in 2023, has warrant of arrest —NCRPO
The gunman in the shooting incident at a basketball court near a residential building in Parañaque City is convicted of homicide in a 2023 case and has an outstanding warrant, the National Capital Regional Police Office (NCRPO) confirmed Friday.
NCRPO spokesperson Police Major Hazel Asilo checked a copy of the arrest warrant and confirmed to GMA News Online that it is authentic.
“Legit daw po,” she said in a message.
The arrest warrant was dated June 16, 2023 and was issued by Taguig City Regional Trial Court Branch 153.
On Wednesday night, the 59-year-old gunman used a 9mm pistol and opened fire while the victims were playing basketball.
Two people were killed while four others were hurt in the incident.
Initial investigation revealed the suspect is a resident of the condominium. It was also found the gunman already had a past argument with one of the fatalities and the wounded victims.
“Around the last week of December and the last week of February, the suspect allegedly knocked on the unit of one of the victims. Our victim reported the incident to security,” said Parañaque City Police chief Police Colonel Nicolas Piñon, adding the suspect was probably looking for someone.
The police has launched a manhunt operation.
Meanwhile, Azure Property Management, which manages the residential area where the crime happened, said it is cooperating with the police and will support the ongoing operation.
“We are extending our full support to the victims and their families, coordinating with the proper channels to ensure they receive the necessary care and attention during this difficult time,” it said. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
