Curlee Discaya faces tax evasion charges

The Department of Justice (DOJ) has filed tax evasion cases against contractor Curlee Discaya over unpaid taxes with the Court of Tax Appeals (CTA).

The cases for violating Sections 254 (Willful Attempt to Evade or Defeat Taxes) and 255 (Willful Failure to Supply Correct and Accurate Information) of the National Internal Revenue Code of 1997 were filed on March 12.

It was raffled off to the CTA Third Division on March 16.

Prosecutor General Richard Fadullon confirmed that the DOJ denied the motion for reconsideration filed by Curlee Discaya.

The Department of Justice previously said it would file separate tax evasion cases against Curlee Discaya and his wife, Sarah Discaya.

Sarah Discaya’s case was filed earlier with the CTA in February due to Curlee Discaya's appeal with the DOJ.

Meanwhile, Sarah Discaya’s case was raffled to the CTA First Division.

In September 2025, the Discayas disclosed the names of several congressmen, their staff, and officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways who were allegedly involved in the corruption scheme.

Sarah Discaya is currently committed at the Lapu-Lapu City Jail, while Curlee Discaya is under the custody of the Senate. –NB, GMA Integrated News
