LTO: Socmed posts on vehicle registration fee hikes are fake news
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has denied social media posts which claim that it imposed a 100% increase in vehicle registration fees without prior notice to the public.
In a post on its Facebook page, the LTO debunked such social media posts as fake news.
(These statements are untrue. The LTO continues to make its services affordable, especially amid the economic crisis that our country is facing.)
(Fees for registration and other LTO transactions are based on regulations and laws approved by the government, and there are no sudden or unannounced increases in rates.)
The Facebook post included a screenshot of the social media post in question, which alleged that the LTO imposed a 100% increase in vehicle registration fees without prior notice and along with the recent rounds of oil price hikes.
The agency assured that it will extend efficient and affordable services to all citizens.
The LTO urged the public not to easily believe or share unverified news about its services or any supposed increases in fees.
The public may validate such information by following the LTO’s social media pages on Facebook, X, Youtube, and TikTok, by checking its website, or by inquiring with authorized LTO district offices and extension centers. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
