Baste Duterte named PDP Laban party president

Davao Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte was appointed as the party president of the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP-Laban) political party.

In a social media post by Senator Bong Go, Duterte was appointed during the PDP National Council Meeting.

The 38-year-old Duterte is the younger brother of Vice President Sara Duterte and a son of former president Rodrigo Duterte. Baste was elected as vice mayor of Davao City with his father as his running mate  in 2025 and later became acting mayor after his father was arrested on charges related to the elder Duterte’s drug war. Baste was  sworn as mayor in January this year.

Go said members discussed “important issues and the direction of the party” and reaffirmed their unity and commitment to serve the Filipino people. —RF, GMA News
