NBI: Website outage due to switch to new Internet provider

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Sunday night said its official website and several online services are experiencing temporary downtime due to an ongoing transition between Internet service providers (ISPs).

In a statement, the NBI said access to its website, https://nbi.gov.ph, including its Online Clearance Application Portal and official email services, has been disrupted.

The agency cited its Technology and Infrastructure Division (TIND), which said the interruption occurred during the migration to a new Internet provider.

“In simple terms, the issue involves the system that directs users to the correct NBI servers online. During the transition, the connection from the previous provider was unexpectedly cut before the new system was fully activated, causing the services to go offline,” the NBI said.

The affected services include the NBI official website, the online clearance application portal, and its internal and external email systems.

NBI director Melvin Matibag maintained that the disruption “is purely technical in nature and not the result of any security breach,” adding that the agency’s systems remain secure.

Matibag also appealed for the public’s patience and understanding as the NBI completes the transition toward a more stable and improved digital infrastructure.

The NBI assured that its technical teams are working continuously to restore full service.

“The agency is also closely coordinating with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to ensure proper system configuration and prevent further disruptions,” it said, adding that it will provide updates as soon as services are fully restored. — JMA, GMA News
