LTFRB thanks TNCs for slashing commission rates amid higher oil prices

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has commended transport network companies (TNCs) that lowered base commission rates for their ride-hailing services partners amid higher prices of fuel products.

In a statement, LTFRB chairman Vigor Mendoza II said the TNCs’ move is a big boost to the government’s efforts to maximize the assistance for the public transport sector amid the Middle East conflict.

“This is really commendable and I extend my sincerest gratitude to these TNCs for heeding the call to give their share in helping the public transport sector,” Mendoza said on Sunday.

“Malaking tulong ito sa mga TNVS partners sa panahon ngayon na talagang mahal ang diesel at gasolina,” he added.

(This is a big help to our transport network vehicle service partners, especially that diesel and gas are so expensive.)

On April 16, Mendoza met with officials and representatives of 18 TNCs operating in the country, including motorcycle taxis, to discuss the possibility of lowering commission rates imposed on their partners.

The commission rates reached a maximum reduction of 10%. Three of the TNCs waived their commissions temporarily amid the crisis.

The reduction in commission rates for motorcycle platforms are as follows:

Mendoza expressed the government’s gratitude to each of the TNCs on behalf of Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez.

The LTFRB will draft guidelines on the reduction in commission rates as part of protocol.

“This is the true meaning of bayanihan. Ito yung mga pagkakataon na magiging proud ka na maging Pilipino dahil sa malasakit at pagtulong sa isa’t-isa (This is one of the times that you will be proud to be a Filipino because of the compassion and help extended to one another),” Mendoza added. — JMA, GMA News
