Authorities seized around P278 million worth of suspected shabu and arrested two Chinese nationals in a buy-bust operation in Quezon City, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said Wednesday.
In a statement, PDEA said around 41 kilograms of suspected shabu were confiscated during the operation conducted on Tuesday evening on Andrade Street in Barangay Balingasa.
Arrested suspects were identified as 33-year-old alias “Aye” and 32-year-old “Mok,” who are both Chinese nationals.
Seized from the suspects were:
- 41 kilograms of shabu concealed in a paper bag and carton boxes
- an SUV
- a Hong Kong passport
- a Hong Kong international driving permit
- two mobile phones
- the marked buy-bust money
The suspects will face charges for possession and sale of illegal drugs under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
“This successful operation underscores our unwavering commitment to dismantle drug networks that threaten our communities. The seizure of nearly P300 million worth of shabu is a major blow to illegal drug syndicates operating in the country,”PDEA chief Undersecretary Isagani Nerez said.
“We will not allow the Philippines to be used as a transshipment hub or market for illegal drugs. Regardless of nationality, those who engage in this criminal activity will be pursued and held fully accountable under our laws,” he added. —VAL, GMA News
