Marcos considering Japan visit in May - Palace
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. is "considering" an invitation to visit Japan next month.
"Nothing is confirmed. We are still considering the invite,'' Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro told reporters on Wednesday.
No further information was provided by the Palace official.
Reuters on Wednesday cited a report by Nikkei Asia, indicating that the Japanese government is considering inviting Marcos as early as May to meet with Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
Nikkei Asia reported that the potential visit aims to "confirm cooperation toward realizing a free and open Indo-Pacific and to coordinate responses to China's maritime expansion."
