LTFRB sees mismatch on drivers’ lists submitted by TNCs, motorcycle taxis to DSWD
Discrepancies were reportedly observed in the lists of drivers submitted by transport network companies (TNCs) and motorcycle taxi operators to the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
The two agencies have been collecting and updating lists of public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers for their respective financial assistance programs amid high fuel prices due to the Middle East conflict.
“Yung listahan na binigay nila sa amin ay malayo sa listahan na binibigay nila dito sa ating DSWD, dito sa programang ito. Talagang there is much to explain kasi ang layo ng numero,” LTFRB chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza told GTV’s Balitanghali.
(The list they gave us is far from the list they are giving to the DSWD program. There is really much to explain because there is a huge difference in numbers.)
“Yung dapat na talaan ng drivers laging meron silang limitations. Ang layo ng pinag-uusapan so this is something we will have to investigate. Makita natin ang puno’t dulo nito. Ano ba eksplanasyon nila dito,” he added.
(There are always limitations on the number of drivers. We are talking about a huge difference so this is something we will have to investigate. We will get to the bottom of this. What is their explanation here.)
Mendoza said that the discrepancies may stem from the inclusion of inactive or former drivers in some submissions.
Regarding the possible Senate probe into the supposed slow updates on the lists of PUV drivers, Mendoza pointed out that the LTFRB traditionally maintains records of operators, not drivers.
The creation of a centralized drivers’ database only began under the current administration, according to Mendoza. —AOL, GMA News
