Malacañang on Monday said it's up to law enforcement agencies to investigate Senator Panfilo ''Ping'' Lacson’s claim that some retired military officers were planning a “power grab” against President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr.

Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro said the destabilization plot against the President was not new.

''Unang-una po, kung ito ay mapapatunayan, dahil si Senator Lacson naman ay hindi natin matatawaran kapag nagsalita ito, ito ay may resibo. So, muli ang mga investigating bodies natin, hindi na po kayo kailangang utusan, gawin na po ninyong mag-imbestiga,'' Castro said.

(Senator Lacson often has proof over his claims. To our investigating bodies, there's no need for you to be ordered to look into this.)

Over the weekend, Lacson claimed that there were supposed efforts to seek support from members of the uniformed services for a possible military-backed “revolution.”

Lacson said that as long as the Armed Forces of the Philippines remains professional, ''there is no compelling reason to have a military junta or another people power revolution.''

Last year, the military’s intelligence community also looked into the claim of an alleged destabilization plot against the Marcos administration. —LDF, GMA News
