The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will face the House justice committee on Wednesday to present the findings on its investigation into the alleged threats of Vice President Sara Duterte against President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. and others.

NBI Director Melvin Matibag arrived at the House of Representatives to testify in the ongoing impeachment proceedings against Duterte. Joining him were NBI Cybercrime Division Investigation Agent John Mark Calilung, and agents Jeremy Lontoc, Homer Angluben, and Vanessa Asuncion.

The House panel issued a subpoena to the NBI last week to report the results of its probe.

To recall, the Vice President said that she ordered someone to kill Marcos, First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos, and then Speaker Martin Romualdez if an alleged plot against her succeeds during an online press briefing in 2024.

Following this, the NBI recommended the filing of a complaint against Duterte in February 2025.

Duterte later clarified that her “assassination” statement was not a threat, saying she only highlighted the alleged threat to her security. She also said her remarks were “maliciously taken out of logical context.” —AOL, GMA News
