PNP awards over P4.1M to informants of 21 wanted persons

The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday handed over a total of P4,145,000 in monetary rewards to civilian informants whose tips led to the arrest of 21 wanted persons facing serious criminal charges.

Held at Camp Crame in Quezon City, the ceremony was presided over by PNP chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr.

According to the PNP, the informants provided crucial information that resulted in the capture of suspects involved in crimes such as murder, rape, kidnapping for ransom, terrorism financing, and violations of child protection and drug laws.

The rewards ranged from P130,000 to P1,000,000. The highest reward was granted for a suspect involved in terrorism financing.

In his message, Nartatez recognized the importance of public cooperation in maintaining peace and order.

“The ceremony highlights the courage and civic responsibility of our citizens. It reflects the trust between the police and the community,” he said.

“The cooperation of the community allows us to build safer environments through shared vigilance and trust,” he added.

For him, citizen participation remains vital in crime prevention and law enforcement.

The reward system strengthens intelligence gathering and encourages more citizens to come forward with information, according to the PNP. — RSJ, GMA News
