Paraguay's president to have bilateral talk with Marcos

Paraguay President Santiago Peña Palacios will undertake an official visit to the Philippines on May 11 following an invitation from President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr.

According to the Presidential Communications Office on Tuesday, President Peña will receive official honors at Malacañang Palace, wherein he is expected to have a bilateral meeting with Marcos to discuss avenues for enhanced cooperation and mutual development.

The visit marks a significant milestone in strengthening ties between the Philippines and Paraguay, as it will be the first presidential visit between the two countries.

Their relations were built on a history of constructive engagement and high-level exchanges over the past six decades.

Amid the official visit, the two countries seek to expand cooperation across a range of sectors, including trade and investment, as well as agriculture.

Paraguay is an emerging partner of the Philippines in Latin America, and both countries share common values rooted in democracy, the rule of law, and a commitment to international cooperation.

The PCO said that this official visit underscores the continued efforts of the Philippines to broaden its engagement with its Latin American partners as well as to diversify its economic partnerships.
