PHIVOLCS reports Magnitude 5.6 earthquake near Davao Oriental's Caraga town

A magnitude 5.6 earthquake hit near Davao Oriental on Wednesday night.

PHIVOLCS earlier reported that the quake measured magnitude 5.9.

According to PHIVOLCS, the earthquake hit 17 kilometers east of Caraga town at 11.35 p.m.

It had a depth of 29 kilometers and was tectonic in origin.

The following intensities were reported in these areas:

• Intensity III - Mati City, Davao Oriental; Monkayo, Davao de Oro; Bislig City, Surigao del Sur
• Intensity II - Maco, Maragusan, and Pantukan, Davao de Oro; Davao City; Tandag City, Surigao del Sur

No aftershock is expected but some damage to infrastructure is expected. — NB/BAP, GMA News
