Atong Ang spotted in Cavite in April —SILG Remulla

Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla on Friday said Atong Ang, who is among the accused in the missing sabungeros case, was reportedly seen in Cavite last month.

“He's here in the Philippines, for sure. Last sighting sa kanya (of him), Cavite one month ago,” Remulla said at Kapihan ng Samahang Plaridel forum.

Authorities immediately organized an operation with 300 personnel from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) to arrest Ang.

“Pagdating namin, nakaalis na (When we arrived, he had already left). We acted very fast, as fast as we could,” Remulla said.

“In fact, yung pagkain nandodoon pa noong pagdating namin (the food was still there when we arrived)…We almost got him,” he added.

Arrest warrants have been issued against Ang and others, stemming from multiple counts of kidnapping with homicide and kidnapping and serious illegal detention in connection with the missing sabungeros case.

Ang has denied the allegations against him.

An Interpol red notice was issued against Ang in April.
