The Senate is "allegedly under attack," Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano said Wednesday evening, as the upper house was on lockdown amid a warrant of arrest against Senator Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa.

"Four senators got tips 30 minutes ago while we were talking na umalis na dito kasi may mangyayari," Cayetano said in a video filmed in a darkened room, with his sister Senator Pia Cayetano behind him.

"The emotions are high here, because bakit kami paaalisin, eh we're waiting for the articles of impeachment and we're having a meeting?" he said.

The articles of impeachment against Vice President Sara Duterte were delivered to the Senate also that evening, amid the chaos in the chamber.

"Kung sino ang nakikinig from the government, this is the Senate of the Philippines, we are allegedly under attack," Cayetano added.

"The Sergeant-At-Arms has confirmed na may putukan na dito, so please kung sinong nanonood, sinong nakikining, we expect yung tawagan namin would understand the emotions here and will say we'll do something about it."
