Bongbong Marcos scoffs at Imee's no election scenario in 2028
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday brushed off the idea of a no-election scenario in 2028 being floated by his sister, Senator Imee Marcos.
The President appeared to scoff when asked about the senator’s statement, according to JP Soriano’s Super Radyo dzBB report.

Meanwhile, Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro assured the public that the President follows Philippine laws.
“Unang-una, ang Pangulo lagi siyang sumusunod sa batas. Due process kung ano man sa batas. Hindi iyan. Hindi ‘yan lumalabag sa batas. Meron tayong batas patungkol sa susunod na election, 2028, so nakasisiguro tayo na ang Pangulo ay susunod sa batas,” Castro told reporters.
(First of all, the President always follows the law. Whatever is provided by law, such as due process, is observed. He does not violate the law. We have laws regarding the next election in 2028, so we can be assured that the President will obey the law.)
According to Castro, the senator floated the idea of a no-election in 2028 to cover up the real issues in the upcoming impeachment trial and what happened during the May 13 shooting incident inside the Senate premises.
“Sa ating tingin, sa aking pagkakaintindi rito, ito ay para matakpan, matabunan ang totoong issue. Nalalapit na po yung impeachment trial, so alam naman natin kung ano yung gusto ni Senator Imee pagdating sa impeachment trial,” Castro said.
(We think that, in my understanding, this is meant to cover up or overshadow the real issue. The impeachment trial is already approaching, so we already know what Senator Imee wants when it comes to the impeachment trial.)
“At the same time, para mapagtakpan ‘yung nangyari talaga sa Senado, kung paano naitakas o nailabas ni Senator Robin Padilla si Senator Bato, at kung paano talaga nagkaroon ng putukan at sino ba talaga ang nagpasimula nito at kung sino ba talaga ang may nais na magkaroon ng ganoong klaseng gulo,” she added.
(At the same time, this is also meant to cover up what really happened in the Senate, how Senator Robin Padilla was able to help Senator Bato [dela Rosa] escape or get out, how the shooting actually happened, who really started it, and who truly wanted that kind of chaos to happen.)
During a privilege speech on Monday, Senator Marcos presented a video that supposedly contained documentation, footage, and statements alleging efforts to amend the Constitution through a Constitutional Assembly.
The same video also claimed there were moves to extend the terms of incumbent officials until 2031, lower the age requirement for presidential candidates to 35 years old, and cancel the 2028 presidential elections.
"Impeachment, no elections, term extension. Ito ang inaatupag ng ilang mambabatas na nagiging mambubutas ng sikmura ng taumbayan," Imee said.
(Impeachment, no elections, term extension. These are what other lawmakers are prioritizing.)
"Inuuna ito kaysa gutom, trabaho, kalusugan, kabuhayan. Gusto nilang pahabain ang paghihirap ng Pilipino, gusto ata nilang gumapang ang bayan sa dusa, gaya ng paggpaang ng mga buwaya sa kaban ng bayan at konstitusyon," she said.
(They prioritize this instead of focusing on hunger, work, health, and livelihood. They want to extend the suffering of Filipinos. It seems they want the country to crawl in hardship, much like the crocodiles crawling over the national treasury and the Constitution.)
The President on Tuesday departed the country for a four-day state visit to Japan, where discussions of maritime security, defense cooperation, energy security, and investments are some of his key agendas. —RF, GMA News
