3 senators named vice-chairs of Senate public order panel

Three senators have been designated elected as vice-chairpersons to the Senate panel on public order and dangerous drugs upon the instruction of its chair, Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa.

Acting Senate Majority Floor Leader Joel Villanueva manifested this on Tuesday during the plenary session.

“Upon the instruction of the chairperson, may I respectfully manifest the designation of Senators Christopher Lawrence Go, Jinggoy Estrada, and Rodante Marcoleta as vice-chairpersons of the committee,” Villanueva said.

Also named as members of the Senate committee on public order and dangerous drugs are Senators Robinhood Padilla and Imee Marcos.

Dela Rosa – a former chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and former Davao City police chief under former President Rodrigo Duterte – is facing an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court (ICC) in connection with his role in Duterte’s war on illegal drugs.

He was identified as among the alleged co-perpetrators in a purported “common plan” involving killings linked to the anti-drug campaign.

After six months of absence, he resurfaced on May 11 to participate in a Senate vote on a leadership change before again retreating from public view.

Dela Rosa is chair of the Senate public order and dangerous drugs committee.
