PNP-CIDG seen at Senate amid arrest warrant vs Jinggoy Estrada

Members of the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) were seen at the Senate on Monday shortly after the Sandiganbayan 5th Division issued an arrest warrant against Senator Jinggoy Estrada.

At least three PNP-CIDG members arrived. However, they did not confirm why they were at the Senate.

The issuance of Estrada's warrant of arrest came despite motions filed by the senator's legal counsel earlier in the day seeking to withhold the issuance of the warrant.

Based on the copy of the arrest warrant, Estrada’s co-accused—former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Manuel Bonoan and three former DPWH National Capital Region officials—were likewise ordered arrested:

• District Engineer Manny Bulusan,
• District Engineer Arturo Gonzalez, Jr., and
• Assistant District Engineer Denryl Caesar Cortuna.

They are expected to appear before the Sandiganbayan 5th Division for processing.

On Friday, Estrada posted a P90,000 bail with the Sandiganbayan 2nd Division for his temporary liberty amid a graft case filed against him over his alleged involvement in the flood control mess. —AOL, GMA News
