PNP: No validated intel that pro-Duterte groups would storm MalacaƱang on June 12

The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Friday said it has not received any validated intelligence information regarding alleged plans by groups supporting Vice President Sara Duterte to storm Malacañang on Independence Day, June 12.

PNP Public Information Office acting chief Police Colonel Allen Rae Co assured the public that authorities remain vigilant and prepared to respond to any security threats ahead of the holiday on June 12.

“We have received no validated intelligence regarding any such threats,” Co said at a press

In a Facebook post, columnist Ramon Tulfo cited an unnamed source who allegedly attended a meeting at Camp Crame.

He said the agenda of the meeting included discussions on a supposed plan by pro-Duterte groups to attack the Palace during the Independence Day celebration.

Tulfo claimed the PNP had received intelligence reports about the alleged plot, which he said would be led by a religious sect.

“My tweety bird who attended the meeting in Camp Crame says the agenda was the plan to storm Malacanang by pro-Sara groups on June 12, to coincide with the Independence Day. The PNP has received intelligence reports of a planned attack on the Palace to be led by a religious sect,” he said.

“According to my tweety bird , the conferees tackled the defense of Malacanang,” he added.

According to Co, security preparations for Independence Day were among the topics discussed during the meeting between Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla and top PNP officials earlier in the day.
