Palace to Alan Peter Cayetano: Don't act as if you’re the victim

Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro on Monday told Senator Alan Peter Cayetano to stop acting like he is the victim, following the latter’s call to Senator Sherwin Gatchalian to not allow himself to be used by Malacañang.

At a press briefing, Castro said that many were "victimized" by the recent happenings at the Senate, which, she stressed, all happened under the leadership of Cayetano as Senate president.

“Sana ‘wag kumilos ang opisyal na parang siya pa ang biktima,” the Palace Press Officer said.

(I hope the official does not act as if he is still the victim.)

“Ang sinasabi ay mag-ingat sa Malacañang, mas mag-ingat po ang taumbayan sa mga taong nagkukunwari at nagpapanggap na banal,” she added.

(Someone was told to be careful in Malacañang, but it is the people who should be more careful of those who pretend to be holy.)

Castro said she was not referring to anyone, but there is nothing she could do if Cayetano felt affected by it.

In a Facebook live on Saturday, Cayetano said that Gatchalian should “be careful," considering that he has a bright future.

“Huwag kang magpagamit sa Malacañang at doon sa mga kasamahan mo kahit binibigyan ka ng high position,” Cayetano said.
