Brawner laid to rest in Baguio

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines - Former Elections commissioner Romeo Brawner was laid to rest at the Baguio Cemetery before noon Wednesday. Hours before the funeral, final prayers were said to the late poll executive at the Baguio Convention Center, afterwhich a Mass was celebrated at the Baguio Cathedral. During his five-day wake at the La Paz Memorial Homes and at the Baguio Convention Center, thousands of this city's residents paid their respects to Brawner, who started his career in the judiciary as a judge in this city in 1973. He was also a professor of law at the Baguio Colleges Foundation from 1971 to 1995. Brawner, who was named Comelec commissioner in July 2005, succumbed to a massive heart attack on May 29. - GMANews.TV
