Who are the fatalities of the Tacloban school shooting?

The June 22 shooting incident at San Jose National High School in Tacloban City, Leyte claimed three lives and injured 20 other individuals.

The Philippine National Police has said that the shooting incident appeared to be premeditated, adding that one of the minors behind the shooting claimed that he and his companion only wanted to "scare" other students.

Meanwhile, Education Secretary Sonny Angara said the Tacloban shooting incident was a planned "mission" by two teen students who allegedly carried it out.

Education undersecretary for operations, Dr. Malcolm Garma, said initial reports showed that the shooters' motive may be related to bullying, but took notice that the attacks did not seem to be targeted.

Here are the three fatalities of the Tacloban deadly shooting:

Joyancee Separa

Joyancee Separa is a 15-year-old Grade 9 student who took the viral video of the shooting incident where her other schoolmates were also killed.

Separa is second among her three siblings and she dreamed of becoming an honor student.

Chris Lorenz Fabian

Chris Lorenz Fabian is a 15-year-old Grade 10 student and a boy scout.

The viral video showed how Fabian was shot when he blocked the door of a classroom during the shooting.

According to Fabian's grandmother, Aleth, his grandson was seen blocking the door while the gunman was trying to open it.

She said the gunman shot the door, and the bullet went through Fabian's hands, then his heart and lungs.

"Sabi nila, hero siya kasi kung hindi daw po niya ginawa 'yun, marami pang namatay sa mga kaklase niya,” Aleth said.

(They said he is a hero because if he hadn't done that, more of his classmates would have died.)

The viral video showed how Fabian fell after getting hit.

Ayessa Nicole Dazo

Ayessa Nicole Dazo is a 14-year-old student who was caught on video being carried out of the school after being hit by a bullet, but eventually passed away.

The Commission on Human RIghts has launched a motu proprio investigation into the deadly shooting incident, which will be conducted by its Regional Office VIII (Eastern Visayas).

The alleged shooters were identified as students aged 14 and 15.

The two teenagers are now under the custody of the Tacloban City Social Welfare and Development Office. —VAL, GMA News
