Members of religious and civil society groups on Sunday attended a Mass at the EDSA Shrine in Quezon City as part of the White Ribbon March calling for an end to corruption.

The Mass was officiated by Kidapawan Bishop Jose Bagaforo.

The faithful who attended wore white.

The Mass was also shown on GMA News' YouTube channel and Facebook page.

In his homily, Bishop Bagaforo reminded the public that a person who truly loves is someone who does not steal from his neighbor.

"Ang tunay na nagmamahal ay hindi magnanakaw sa kapwa," he said.

Bagaforo also said being self-centered can lead to lack of concern for others.

"Kapag 'ako' ang sentro, nagiging madali ang pagsisinungaling, panlalamang, pang-aabuso sa kapangyarihan, at korapsyon," the bishop said.

(If "I" am at the center, it would be easier to lie, take advantage of others, abuse power, and be corrupt.)

Seen attending the Mass were former lawmakers Liza Maza, France Castro, Satur Ocampo, and Teddy Casiño.

Religious and civil society leaders earlier called on Filipinos to join the White Ribbon Movement March on Sunday, June 28, 2026 at the EDSA People Power Monument to push for electoral reforms and greater accountability in government.

The initiative, led by the Interreligious Leaders Council for National Transformation (IRCNT), seeks to mobilize public support against corruption and political dynasties while advocating reforms in the country’s political system.

The gathering set to take place at the EDSA People Power Monument is expected to coincide with similar activities in other parts of the country.

After the Mass at EDSA Shrine, participants will march toward the EDSA People Power Monument at EDSA corner White Plains Avenue starting at 2:30 p.m. A program follows at 3 p.m. at the People Power Monument.

Organizers said the White Ribbon Movement aims to unite various sectors, including faith-based organizations and civil society groups, in calling for transparent governance and meaningful political reforms. —KG, GMA News
