Death toll due to Inday, Habagat climbs to 27 — OCD

The reported death toll from the enhanced Southwest monsoon (Habagat) and Tropical Cyclone Inday rose to 27, according to the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) on Thursday.

As of 6 a.m. on Thursday, the OCD said 27 individuals reportedly died after the tropical cyclone wreaked havoc over parts of Visayas and Mindanao.

The deaths were reported in the following areas: 10 from Sarangani; seven from Lanao Del Sur; four from Davao Occidental; two each from Zamboanga Sibugay and Bukidnon; one each from Iloilo and Zamboanga del Sur.

Meanwhile, nine people sustained injuries: two each in Benguet, Lanao del Sur, and Maguindanao Del Norte and one each in Marinduque, Davao Occidental, and Sarangani.

Also missing are 13 persons, with one from Zamboanga Del Sur, five from Davao Occidental, two from Sarangani, four from Lanao Del Sur, and one from Maguindanao Del Sur.

According to the OCD, at least 254,059 families, or 1.07 million individuals had been affected by the tropical cyclone.

Damage to infrastructure amounted to P4.18 million and P12.50 million in agriculture. At least P82.9 million worth of assistance was provided to affected families. —RF, GMA News
