Pulse Asia: Marcos trust rating drops to 28%; Sara Duterte steady at 58%

Vice President Sara Duterte continues to enjoy the trust of a majority of adult Filipinos, while President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. saw his ratings decline, according to a Pulse Asia Research Inc. survey released Monday.

Based on Pulse Asia’s July 2026 survey, Marcos' national approval and trust ratings both fell by 7 percentage points, while his disapproval and distrust ratings rose by 5 and 7 percentage points, respectively.

The President's trust rating stood at 28%, while 51% said they distrusted him. Twenty-one percent were undecided about his trustworthiness.

Marcos' trust ratings declined in the rest of Luzon (-15 percentage points), Class ABC (-14 percentage points), and Class D (-7 percentage points).

Distrust in the President also increased in the rest of Luzon (+16 percentage points), Class ABC (+14 percentage points), and Class D (+6 percentage points).

In terms of performance, half of Filipino adults (50%) disapproved of Marcos' performance, while 29% approved.

By region, disapproval of Marcos was highest in Mindanao (79%), followed by the Visayas (53%). Across socioeconomic classes, 58% of respondents in Class ABC, 52% in Class E, and 48% in Class D disapproved of his performance.

The Vice President, on the other hand, has a small majority trust figure (58%), while her distrust rating was at 27%.

Duterte saw few significant changes in her trust ratings from March to July 2026. Trust in the Vice President increased in the rest of Luzon (+12 percentage points) and Class ABC (+20 percentage points).

Her distrust rating also declined among those in Class ABC (-16 percentage points).

Duterte also had a 56% approval rating and a 29% disapproval rating.

By region, approval of Duterte's performance was highest in Mindanao (89%), followed by the Visayas (61%), while disapproval was notable in the National Capital Region (45%) and the rest of Luzon (41%).

Across socioeconomic classes, her approval rating was highest among respondents in Class E (70%), followed by those in Class D (57%).

The survey was conducted on June 28 to July 3 and July 6, 2026, through face-to-face interviews with 2,400 adults aged 18 and above.

It has a ±2 percentage-point margin of error at the 95% confidence level for national estimates and ±4 percentage points for Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao. — MCG, GMA News
