Lacson hits at 'bopol' senator-judge in Sara Duterte impeachment trial
Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson on Tuesday criticized a fellow senator-judge in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte who supposedly made some of the discussions on the floor look “stupid.”
Lacson, however, did not name the senator-judge he was referring to in his post on X.
“Kapag magagaling ang mga abugado ng prosekusyon at depensa, masarap makinig; ang dami nating natutuhan. Ang problema, kapag may umentra na senator-judge na ‘bopol,’ nakaka-bobo naman,” he said.
(It’s nice to listen when the prosecution and defense lawyers are skilled; we learn so much. The problem arises when a ‘stupid’ senator-judge steps in. It now feels stupid.)
“Win some, lose some,” he added.
Lacson also described it an “awkward and shameful” experience seeing a judge being lectured by a counsel during a trial.
“I had attended many court trials especially during my law enforcement days. I never witnessed a counsel, either for the prosecution or defense lecture a judge on the Constitution, Rules of Court and leading jurisprudence,” he said. — RSJ, GMA News
