House cancels Aug. 10 plenary session, implements WFH setup due to Habagat

The House of Representatives cancelled its plenary session on Monday as it allowed its personnel to work from home due to inclement weather and flooding brought by the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) affecting Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon.

In an advisory, House Secretary General Atty. Cheloy E. Velicaria-Garafil said the plenary session shall resume on Tuesday, August 11.

“In view of the heavy rainfall and flooding brought about by the Southwest Monsoon, a Work-from-Home (WFH) arrangement shall be implemented in the House of Representatives today, 10 August 2026,” she said.

“The Plenary Session scheduled for today is likewise cancelled and shall resume tomorrow, Tuesday, 11 August 2026," she added.

On Sunday evening, Malacañang announced the suspension of face-to-face classes and in-person government work for Monday, August 10, 2026, in Metro Manila and 15 provinces.

The state weather bureau, PAGASA, said Habagat will bring rain over Luzon and the western section of the Visayas on Monday. —With Llanesca Panti and Tina Panganiban Perez/AOL, GMA News
