Palace orders alternative arrangements in gov't offices, schools in NCR, 12 Luzon areas

Malacañang directed government offices in the National Capital Region and nearby areas to shift to alternative work arrangements on August 14, Friday, amid the effects of the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat.

Palace likewise directed public and private schools to implement alternative learning modes, unless otherwise stated by local chief executives.

The following areas are covered by the directive based on Memorandum Circular No. 126:

• National Capital Region
• Zambales
• Bataan
• Bulacan
• Pampanga
• Tarlac
• Nueva Ecija
• Cavite
• Batangas
• Rizal
• Laguna
• Quezon
• Occidental Mindoro

This was upon the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and in light of the heavy rainfall warnings issued by PAGASA due to the continuous heavy rainfall associated with the Habagat.

Agencies involved in the delivery of basic and health services, preparedness or response to disasters, and other vital services, are, meanwhile, directed to continue their operations and render the necessary services.

Localized cancellation or suspension of classes and/or work in government offices may also be implemented by respective local chief executives.

The suspension of work or adoption of alternative work arrangements for private companies and offices was also left to the discretion of their respective heads.
