Your Say: The RH Bill is an international conspiracy, Sotto claims

Moreover, the senator doubts the authenticity of the statistics that RH bill proponents have used in defense of their case. "Reliable ba ang sources na ito? May pinapaboran ba ang source dahil makikinabang sila dito kalaunan? At ano ang motibo ng mga organisasyong nagtutulak nito?" he asked. Reading through the comments section on GMA News Online, one would find that most readers are in favor of the RH bill. In the particular article mentioned above, however, only a few anti-RH voices are heard. 

There is no conspiracy. The clamor for poor and developing nations with over population to heed family planning is universal. We are after all coinhabitants and sharing one Earth. The agencies mentioned are doing nations a favor by educating, conducting studies and sharing the would be effects of over population. Mr. Sotto is so ill-informed and spinning these agencies' actions and intentions incorrectly by calling them conspirators. And for what? Financial gain? Mr. Sotto needs to look at the real side of RH and that is responsible family planning. Mr. Sotto should just go after drug lords and drug criminals. That, he understands. Not RH, sorry!

If Sen Sotto is so concerned about foreign intervention, he should also deliver a speech on the Spanish colonizers who brought in Roman Catholicism here and forced it on the Filipino people.

 

Filipinos at that time werent exactly savages that needed salvation - they had a thriving society, with its own culture.

the more Tito Sotto speaks, the more he reveals how shallow and uninformed he really is.  

and that is putting it mildly. he's basing his argument on a conspiracy theory!  for goodness sakes mr Senator... if you really care for the citizenry of this nation, please take some time out of your luxurious home and go for a stroll among our poor, see how many children there are... out there on the streets, no chance for a decent education, no food, no guidance.  

Go to the government hospitals and find out how may mothers are put at risk because they dont have access to proper medical care and information and education on how to plan their families.  And lastly, pls. do take time to actually read the provisions of the bill, find out how it can be improved and what provisions need to be taken out and what other need to be added. Rather than go around witch hunting and using your emotional one time experience as basis for sounding off your opposition to this bill, I think the senator better spend more time gather solid, factual data and make a contribution to what our society sorely needs. Otherwise, it is a really a huge waste of our taxes to pay for your stay there in the senate. 

Senator Sotto, it is true what you have said. Strikingly true that the pro-RH advocates, international agencies and lobby groups are organized and even support each other in the pursuit of government legislation to ensure maternal health. However, we can not observe the same degree of organization and clarity of intention among religious charlatans and fanatical pseudo-scientists with misplaced priorities who have furiously opposed public health efforts to save mothers from a dire situation of unmitigated preventable deaths.

 

These maternal deaths have been statistically validated to number in the thousands regardless of the doubts that you unsuccessfully raise in the Senate. To argue that these numbers are not true thereby denying the life and death of these mothers is both immoral and unconscionable. Undeniably, unintended pregnancies have unfortunately ended in uncontrolled bleeding as a result of home-based deliveries carried out by untrained birth attendants. An unforgivingly high maternal mortality ratio  (maternal deaths to live births) ensues when thousands of mothers who have literally bled to death were not brought to the proper health facilities because of a lack of awareness and motivation to seek assistance from health professionals.

 

It is NOT true though that these groups and organizations can seriously belabor the advocacy for abortion which is not legal in our country. Your only serious bone of contention is that contraceptive pills cause abortion and that artificial contraception violates Natural Law. These issues are what we want to unequivocally hear from you so that we can go forth in an intelligible debate in all fora of communication including social media. There really is no cause for delay unless you intend to purposely delay the course of legislation through your so-called exposes and life testimonies and have congress default technically on voting for or against the RH bill. The Filipino people does NOT have time to watch a farce of unproven scientific claims and medically erroneous anecdotes coming from your personal bias and history,

Mr Sotto, as a Philppine Senator, should just concentrate on serving the Filipino people by defending his own belief and understanding the effect of the RH bill to the very poor Filipino families. He should refrain from jumbling the issue by making absurd accusation against anyone, especially foreigners & world or foreign organizations. RH bill is all about protecting Filipino mothers giving birth, controlling the Filipino population explosion and educating Filipino women about their health. This is not about the foreigners. Mr. Sotto should put that in his head.

11 deaths, 5 deaths, 1 death. What is the difference? Marami ang namamatay habang hindi napapasa ang RH Bill. It seems that Tito Sotto only cares for 1 death kung kamag-anak or sarili niyang anak niya ang pinaguusapan.

Bakit sa Amerika na may contraceptive promotion ay 52 million na ang na-abort ang baby na legal since 1973.

Maybe because the US actually legalized abortion. Abortion and use of contraceptives are two different things. Have you even tried reading the RH bill in its entirety? http://www.mydailyrace.com/ Nowhere in the bill you will find anything about abortion.

The US did not legalized abortion if contraceptives and sex education had shown positive results.
