Knowledge, technology and development
Last week, people around the world gathered at Ortigas and put their heads together to shed light on two topics that are important to me: development issues and how to help solve them through knowledge sharing. The 2-day conference called KM4Dev: Forum 2007*, was attended by various development practitioners, members of the academe, a few NGOs, funding agencies and even Philippine government agencies. I was there in my capacity as a student of knowledge management (KM) and information technology. My personal goals were (1) to find out the technology that development practitioners are using to facilitate KM and (2) what problems they are encountering in using these technologies. I learned more than what I expected -- but that's getting ahead of the story.
