August anniversaries and ghost month/house

August 21 matters in history because of the salvaging of Ninoy Aquino (1983), the Plaza Miranda bombing (1971), and the death of Walking Tall Sheriff Buford Pusser in a vehicular incident (1974).

We talk of a ghost month. Apparently only ghosts show up in Congress where the House could not even muster a quorum. For shame. Thus no action can be taken say on tax reduction measures, the Freedom of Information bill,  and on the BBL bill. No quorum in the Bigger House. There may be in the Better House. Let us see.

If Cong Tolit Atienza and Cong Jonat de la Cruz are looking  for those to be charged with treason and sedition, they may test their fascinating theory with their peers. As I write I ruminate and reflect on the death of Butz Aquino yesterday, August 17, a most decent colleague when we were in the Senate. He insisted I was older, in professional persiflage. In fact, he was May-born, I was August-born, both in 1939. He was the quintessential Street Parliamentarian who led those Four Days of February, 1986, when the Parliament of the Streets threw out a Dictator.
 

August 16 was when Jason Day finally won a golf major, the PGA. Our scribes call him Fil-Aussie, which the world press seemingly doesn't. His mother, Dening, is a Waray, who married his Aussie pop. When Yolanda struck, Jason was reported to have mourned for his kin who were victims. No mention of any financial help given. Of course he may have helped unadvertised.

He once said he could not come for lack of means. For crying out loud! Only from Down Under. His first Major earned for him close to $2-M, last Sunday, on top of previous earnings. He often landed in the winning circles.

He should connect or reconnect and make that Sentimental Journey Home to his roots, with his Mom. Sana within the year. Christmas would be fine, when naughty Jason could finally be nice to us. Although big and tall, he definitely looks Filipino.
