Part of Aquino Bridge in Tarlac City collapses amid Habagat rains

A portion of the Aquino Bridge in Tarlac City collapsed on Friday night amid continuous rains because of the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and strong river currents, GMA Regional TV One North Central Luzon reported.

The incident was caught on CCTV at 11:56 p.m., according to footage released by the San Isidro, Tarlac City Information Office.

Motorists have been advised to take alternative routes as the damaged bridge has been closed to traffic

The Tarlac City Government said at 2 a.m. that the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Public Order and Safety Office, City Engineer's Office, and Department of Public Works and Highways were monitoring and assessing the condition of the bridge to ensure the safety of residents.
