Body of Agana Bridge collapse victim found in Dagupan

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Tuesday said it has recovered the body of one of the five people aboard a vehicle that plunged into the Tarlac River following the partial collapse of Agana Bridge in Tarlac City.

In a statement, the PCG said the body was recovered in the waters off Barangay Pugaro in Dagupan City, Pangasinan on Monday.

The Coast Guard Station Dagupan received a report around noon about a floating cadaver spotted by a motorbanca operator in the area.

A response team was deployed to verify the report and conduct retrieval operations. The Coast Guard responders confirmed the sighting and recovered the body.

The body was brought to Barangay Poblacion Oeste and turned over to Dagupan City Police Station 5.

Tarlac City Mayor Susan Yap later confirmed that the recovered individual was one of the victims of the Agana Bridge incident, according to the PCG.

The PCG said search and rescue operations remain ongoing for the three other individuals still missing.

On August 29, a multi-purpose vehicle fell into the river following the collapse of a portion of Agana Bridge in Tarlac City.

Only one of the five passengers was rescued. —VAL, GMA News
