Creation of new Samar province opposed

PINABACDAO, Samar, Philippines — A lawmaker from Samar has opposed moves to create a new province within Samar. There are currently three provinces in Samar Island, namely Samar, Northern Samar and Eastern Samar. Rep. Reynaldo Uy, who represents the first legislative district, has proposed that his district be declared as a separate province that will be called Northwestern Samar.
