2 ‘Waray-Waray’ gangsters killed in predawn shootout

MANILA, Philippines - Two suspected members of the "Waray-Waray" kidnap-for-ransom gang were killed in a predawn shootout with police in Cainta town in Rizal province Friday. DZBB's Roland Bola reported that the two suspects engaged police in a chase after they were flagged down at a checkpoint for not wearing helmets. Sketchy initial reports reaching Rizal provincial commander Sr. Supt. Ireneo Dordas showed the suspects were also flagged down for having no license plate on their motorcycle. Initial investigation showed the chase ended at San Juan village in Cainta, Rizal, where the men fired at and hit the police's Nissan Sentra (SEV-251). - GMANews.TV
