Osmeña rejects Interpol request to fund mobile DNA lab

CEBU CITY, Philippines - Mayor Tomas Osmeña has turned down International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) request to fund P1.7 million worth of equipment and supplies for the mobile morgue. Osmeña said that Sulpicio Lines Inc. should shoulder the expenses of the mobile laboratory for DNA testing of the remains of the victims of the MV Princess of the Stars tragedy. Cebu City Administrator Francisco Fernandez said the mayor received Monday the Interpol’s request, which was coursed through Vice Mayor Michael Rama and the Cebu City Disaster Coordinating Council.
