Sariaya municipal hall exec critical in ambush

MANILA, Philippines - Unidentified armed men on Monday shot and wounded the secretary of a municipal council in Quezon province, police reports said. Currently in critical condition at the Doctors Hospital in Lucena City is Michael Quejano, 35, secretary of the Sariaya town council. He suffered four gunshot wounds in different parts of his body. Quezon Provincial Police Chief Sr. Supt. Fidel Posadas said Quejano was on his way to the Sariaya Municipal Hall when armed men waiting in front of his house shot him around 7:40 a.m. “After the shooting incident, the gunmen casually walked away from the crime scene and boarded a tricycle,” Posadas said. He said local investigators recovered two slugs and two empty shells of a handgun in the crime scene. The police official said they are still conducting investigation to determine the motive behind the incident that could lead to the identity of the gunmen. - GMANews.TV
