2 suspects held in anchorman's slay - report

MANILA, Philippines - Police on Thursday night said they have arrested two suspects in the killing of Radio Mindanao Network (RMN) anchorman Martin Roxas following a hot pursuit operation. Radio dzBB's Benjie Liwanag Jr reported that Task Force Usig head Dir. Jefferson Soriano initially identified the suspects as Dionel Lastimoso and Christian Tan. Soriano said recovered from the two was a motorcycle believed to be used in the killing of Roxas. It was not immediately clear if firearms were seized from them. Roxas was shot dead in Roxas City, Capiz Thursday afternoon, less than a week after another RMN anchor was shot and seriously wounded. Roxas, 32, was a former employee of Bombo Radyo and RGMA Super Radyo before moving to RMN. Sketchy initial reports showed Roxas had just finished his noontime program and was going home aboard a motorcycle when two motorcycle-riding gunmen followed him. The men opened fire on him along Bayot Drive in Roxas City, about a kilometer from the RMN radio station. Capiz Gov. Victor Tanco Sr. condemned the incident and ordered police to solve the case. - GMANews.TV
