3 killed in Quezon province bus-truck collision
MANILA, Philippines - At least three people were killed while 21 were injured after a 10-wheeler truck and a passenger bus collided heads-on in Atimonan town in Quezon province Sunday night. DZRH reported Monday evening that the incident involving a 10-wheeler truck and a Manila-bound "Barney" bus occurred in Malinao village in Atimonan town at 10 p.m. The fatalities were initially identified as "Barney" bus driver Rigodon Aguila; truck driver Ronaldo Ramirez; and Lourdes Aire, 52, mother of Ramirez's truck helper. Aire, who hitched a ride on the truck to save on bus fare, suffered a broken leg and died due to loss of blood. Some 21 passengers of the "Barney" bus, which plies Manila and Calauag town route, were rushed to hospitals in Atimonan town and Lucena City. The report said 10 sustained "serious" injuries while the others suffered relatively minor scrapes and bruises. Atimonan is a second-class town with a population of 56,716 people in 12,020 households. - GMANews.TV
