Cop seriously hurt, wife killed in attack in Pagadian

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – A policeman was critically wounded while his wife died when one of two men riding tandem in a motorcycle shot them in Pagadian City, the capital of Zamboanga del Sur province, a police official disclosed Wednesday. The Police Regional Office 9 (PRO 9) information officer, Senior Superintendent Mario Fermindoza, identified the critically injured policeman as Senior Police Officer 2 Ahmad Dacula and wife Celestina. Dacula is assigned at the police station of Kalawit town in Zamboanga del Norte, while his wife is a municipal employee of Kumalarang town in Zamboanga del Sur. Fermindoza disclosed that the Dacula couple where aboard a motorcycle when attacked around 5:10 a.m. Monday in the vicinity of Pagadian Capitol College by the suspects. Fermindoza said the couple were on the way home to Barangay Tiguma, Pagadian, coming from a vigil in Balangasan District when they were attacked. The suspects, riding tandem in a sports-type motorcycle, tailed the couple. When they were abreast of the couple, they suddenly opened fire.
