17th Mindanao Business Conference opens in Dipolog City


ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – For businessmen and other concerned stakeholders, all roads lead Wednesday to Dipolog City, the capital of Zamboanga del Norte, the venue of the 17th Mindanao Business Conference (Minbizcon). Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) Regional Governor Edwin Capili said Tuesday that the three-day Minbizcon scheduled from Wednesday until Friday will push through as scheduled despite the outbreak of hostilities in Lanao del Norte province. At least 350 stakeholders have confirmed their attendance to the 17th Minbizcon as of Tuesday, according to Capili. He said the number of participants could however increase since there are more stakeholders that are expected to make their last hour confirmation to the confab. Capili said the host, the Dipolog Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) headed by Edgar Bagarinao has the full backing of Zamboanga del Norte provincial government headed by Gov. Rolando Yebes as well as the cities of Dipolog and Dapitan headed by Mayors Evelyn Uy and Dominador Jalosjos, Jr., respectively, that are all co-sponsors of the three-day business confab. Capili said the Bagarinao-led DCCI is all set to receive the delegates and guests that would arrived for the 17th Minbizcon with a theme One Global Filipino: Making Public-Private Partnership Work for Mindanao's Economic Development. The annual MinBizCon is the platform of the Mindanao business community to express their issues and concerns which are effectively captured and integrated into what is called the "Mindanao Business Policy Agenda." The MinBizCon is likewise an opportunity for the local governments and the business community to package the area as an ideal investment and tourism destination in Mindanao. The event shall highlight the business and investment opportunities in the host area together with the tourist attractions of the place. The topics to be tackled during the three-day 17th Minbizcon include business and investment opportunities in Zamboanga del Norte, strengthening public-private sector support to agribusiness development, improving logistics for the agribusiness sector, connecting Mindanao to world and others. The MinBizCon is dubbed as the biggest annual gathering of the business community of Mindanao and also the official Area Business Conference of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI). - GMANews.TV
