Schools repairs in Lanao on top of DepEd list


MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Education has ordered the prioritization of school repairs in areas in Lanao del Norte province impacted by clashes between the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front forces. Radio dzBB reported that DepEd secretary Jesli Lapus ordered the department's physical facilities and school engineering division to undertake the inspection. Lapus said education officials should make sure students in Lanao del Norte province resume normal classes soonest. Citing information reaching him, Lapus said there were many damaged schools in Kolambugan, Pantao Ragat, Poona Piagapo and Munai areas in the province. He said more than 3,783 students were affected due to the fighting, and that some P17 million would be needed for the rehabilitation. - GMANews.TV
