Quirino province to unveil biggest fossilized flower

CABBAROGUIS, Quirino – This province’s annual festivities kicked off on Monday on the occasion of its 37th founding anniversary dubbed “Panagdadapun", a Bugkalot word which means “Assembly". As the region’s youngest province, the provincial government of Quirino has embarked on a vigorous preparation which will showcase the province’s tourism potentials among others. “We made sure that this year’s events will be worth remembering since we are also acknowledging Quirino’s steady rise from a once obscure province to a major contributor to Cagayan Valley’s rising economy," Gov. Dakila Cua said. Cua also said that this year’s affair will be unique as it is designed to bring out the best that the young province can offer. Just like in previous years, tourists from many parts of the country are expected to take part in the province’s festivities. One of the most awaited is the unveiling of the biggest fossilized flower. Fossilized flower making is one of the renowned home based industry in the province, as it caters to a wide market based in Manila and neighboring provinces, it is also being exported outside the country. “We are harnessing the dynamism of Quirinians to develop our tourism potentials, we are already successful in the promotion of our eco-tourism and cottage industries but we are not resting just yet, Quirino still has a lot to offer." Cua said Among the featured activities for the three day affair include- environmental awareness activities, job fairs and medical missions, agro-industrial fair, exhibits, skills and academic competitions and sports events. The affairs’ cultural night will showcase the celebrated unique presentation of the province’s most beautiful ladies and awarding of recognition to outstanding Quirinians. - Floro Taguinod, GMANews.TV
