Cargo ship sinks off Ouano Wharf in Cebu

MANILA, Philippines - A cargo vessel carrying gravel sank off Visayas while en route to Cebu from Leyte, dzBB radio reported Thursday morning. Radio dzBB's Carlo Mateo reported that the 13 crew members of the cargo vessel were reported safe after crewmen of a tugboat which was passing by the area when the incident occurred rescued them. Initial investigation showed the vessel sank about 50 meters from Ouano Wharf in Cebu. Coast Guard commandant Vice Admiral Wilfredo Tamayo ordered the Coast Guard stations in Leyte and Cebu to investigate the matter and make sure there is no oil spill resulting from the sinking of the vessel, the report said. - GMANews.TV
