MILF ‘enticing’ recruits with P10k monthly pay

DAVAO CITY, Philippines - The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) is allegedly enticing residents of Inawayan village in Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur to join its ranks with a promise of P10,000 a month salary, the military said. Despite the money offer, no resident has taken up the invitation. "They were saying they will be given P10,000 per month, but no one believed," said Lieutenant Colonel Lyndon Paniza, chief of the Army's 39th IB operating in the area of Santa Cruz, Davao del Sur and Toril District, Davao City. Reports reaching military headquarters there said MILF members in Davao del Sur and Davao Oriental camps have been recruiting locals. Both the military and police are closely monitoring the two base camps of the MILF in Southern Mindanao not just because of the recruitment activities, but also to make sure lawless members of the MILF won’t be able to use the camps to perpetrate atrocities in the region. – Sun.Star Davao
