Doctor shot dead in Batangas city

MANILA, Philippines -At least two unidentified men broke into the house of a doctor in Batangas City and shot him in cold blood in a daring kill job at noon Friday. Radio dzRH reported that the two unidentified men, armed with cal-.45 pistols, entered the house of Dr. Mario Remo and shot him several times. Remo died from two gunshot wounds in the head. The incident occurred in the doctor's house at 12:30 p.m. Police quoted the victim's relatives as saying they thought the suspects were Remo's friends because they entered the house easily. After shooting Remo, the suspects escaped aboard a motorcycle. Police are now verifying reports the doctor earned himself many enemies in the city, and that he was engaged in drug use. Meanwhile, in Metro Manila, two unidentified men shot dead a tricycle driver in Batasan Hills village in Quezon City Friday. Radio dzBB's Louie Garcia reported that the men aboard a blue XRM-type motorcycle without license plates shot Eddie Boy Gutierrez along Legislators Street. Initial investigation showed the victim was just standing along the street when he was shot. Police recovered five shells of a 9-mm pistol at the scene. - GMANews.TV
